Silicon is considered a beneficial element for plants and classified as a micronutrient. The use of Si brings innumerous for agriculture, particularly for grasses, up to now there are no reliable or efficient methodologies for quantifying available Si. Thus, methodologies able to quantify the available silicon in slags and fertilizers were evaluated. The aim of the work was to assess changes in the use of sodium carbonate + ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3 + Na2CO3) with disodium EDTA as extracting Si fertilizers through experiments with the cultivation of rice in an Oxisol and in a Haplortox Quartzipsamment soil typically displaced in a randomized design scheme in a green-house experiment in a factorial design with different sources, 5 Si extractors and 3 replicates. Extractions with four solutions were induced by autoclaving for 1 h at 121 °C in a water bath for 1:30 hours at 900 (± 30), also a standard Si extractor was used, consisting a solution that does not use an autoclave or water bath and rested for five days. This study aimed to characterize the phenology, production and post-harvest fruit of the buriti palm tree in the Savannah as well as factors impacting on production. The study was conducted in three palm swamp with three distinct forms of occupation of the borders. The buriti palm tree were characterized as height, diameter at breast height, number of inflorescences and leaves. The number of leaves was correlated with climatic data from July 2006 to September 2009. To characterize the production were collected from three clusters per area, and determined the average weight of fruit bunches and these extrapolated data for each area. In three clusters of each palm swamp included: length of the bunch, bunch weight, fruit weight, number of rachilles, and fruit number, length rachilles, total number of loci, number of loci with fruit, no fruit locule number , and the reason the number of loci with fruits / total number of loci. In order to increase the productivity of the common bean crop several technologies are offered, but there is lack of studies to verify their efficiency. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of growth regulator and the biological control of fungi of the soil through Trichoderma sp., seeking larger productivity of the commom bean plant irrigated in succession to different cover crops. The experiments were conducted in Fazenda Capivara - Embrapa Arroz e Feijão, in the municipality of Santo Antônio de Goiás, GO, in a Dystrophic Red Latosol. The experimental design was a randomized complete block on split-plot, with four replications. The plots of the two experiments consisted of cultures used as soil cover, as the leguminous: pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan L. Millisp), Stylosanthes guianensis cv. Campo Grande, and Crotalária spectabilis Roth., and the grasses: millet (Pennisetum glaucum L. R. Br.), Panicum maximum cv. Mombaça, Brachiaria brizantha cv. The corn is the main cereal produced in Brazil and its productivity is very affected by the improper use of nitrogen, which is the nutrient absorbed in larger quantities and therefore responsible for a significant share in production costs. Due to the importance of nitrogen for the corn crop becomes necessary studies to reduce the amount of nitrogen applied to the crop, reducing losses and increasing the efficiency of its use, beside minimize environmental risks. One way have been studied to reduce the amount of nitrogen applied and increase the efficiency of use of inorganic nitrogen, from the fertilizer, it is the combination of plants that cover the ground with nitrogened fertilizer. The study aimed to determine the economic viability and the effect of soil management with the use of soil cover plants, hybrids and nitrogen doses in coverage in the vegetative and reproductive characteristics, related to productivity of corn. Fruit flies (Diptera, Tephritidae) are important insect pests in world fruit orchards; responsible for significant yield losses, and an obstacle to the fruit market due to quarantine restrictions imposed by importing countries. The knowledge of their population dynamics in a specific region is an important factor in insect pest management programs. Fruit flies were monitored by surveys conducted in five counties of the state of Goiás, aiming to increase the knowledge of the species, the faunistic index, the population fluctuation, as well as to elaborate a pictorial identification key for the species catalogued. Collecting expeditions were conducted weekly, using traps model McPhail, with corn hydrolyzed protein at 5% as food attractant. The most common species population fluctuation was assessed by the FTD (fly/trap/day) index. The study was carried through in a fishery of changes, in the city of Missal, State of Parana, in order to study the morphological characteristics of the plant, flower, fruit, seed and seedlings of lemon grass, Randia armata (De Candolle SW.) and treatments to overcome seed dormancy. To break dormancy study we used an experimental design of randomized blocks with four treatments, using 150 seeds in each treatment, six replicates of 25 seeds, totaling 600 seeds. Treatments consisted of untreated seeds (seeds washed in running water), mechanical scarification (sandpaper No. 100), heat (immersion in hot water at 80 ?? C) and acid scarification (immersion in concentrated sulfuric acid 98% for ten minutes) . The seeds were subsequently submitted to germination in tubes. Through daily evaluations, we determined the percentage of germinated seeds and emergence speed index at 120 days. Randia armata is a woody shrub or small tree with thorns on the trunk. The fruit is fleshy, globe-shaped and the seed is surrounded by viscous mucilage. Germination is epigeous. The aim of the first study was to analyze the chain of wheat seed production in Rio Grande do Sul from the forces acting on it. For the analysis, it was used the methodology of the five competitive forces: competition within the industry, new entrants, substitute products, bargaining power of suppliers, and bargaining power of buyers. Initially, a survey of secondary data from various sources was done, among which the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA), the Association of Seed Producers of Rio Grande do Sul (Apassul), the National Supply Company (CONAB) and the Brazilian Association of Wheat Industry (ABITRIGO). The study showed that there is great imbalance within the forces that act on the chain of wheat seed production in Rio Grande do Sul, with the bargaining power of buyers making strong pressure on all parts of the chain, even where there is no direct commercial relationships. The second study aimed at, from the implementation of the Plant Cultivars Protection Law (LPC), and the Seeds and Seedlings Law (LS), quantifying the wheat seed companies of Rio Grande do Sul based on their scale of production, relations with class entities, plant breeding companies, and innovation, and to compare current data with the data obtained before the consolidation of the LPC and before the LS became effective. The present work is a case study on the current situation of the producers of seeds of soy of the Paran??, where it looked for to evidence the main problems faced currently for the producers of seeds of soy of the state of the Paran?? and if it makes an analysis of the current dexterous level of management companies. This study aimed to determine the conditions for seed germination test and evaluate the best substrate for the production of seedlings of species of Quillaja brasiliensis (A.St. - Hil & Tul) Mart. The seeds of Q. brasiliensis were sown four replications of 25 seeds in paper substrates and sand as recommended by the RAS. Sowing was between paper, on paper, between sand and on sand subjected to a constant temperature of 20 ?? C. First count of germination (PCG) was analyzed, and germination speed index (GSI), mean germination time (MGT) and determination of moisture content of the batch worked (U ).Two arrays were used for seed collection, located on the edge of the riparian zone of the Arroio Lavras do Sul, RS. The objective of this first work was to evaluate the efficience of the accelerated aging test to the evaluation of the vigor in tobacco seeds (Nicotiana tabacum L.). Three hybrids of Virginia type seeds were used: CSC 405, K 326 and CSC 459 with two quality levels (high and medium). The seeds were evaluated according to their standard germination and vigor: first counting, traditional accelerated aging, aging with salt saturated solution, and salt non saturated solution in the following condition: (temperature of 38??C and exposition time of 18 hours). (41??C with period of 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 hours) and (temperature of 45??C with period of 72 hours). The growing modernization in agricultural production and the use of small and high cost seeds, usually with the waste of sowing and the disposal seedlings recommend the use of techniques such as pelleting of seeds. However, the use of pelleted seeds may present some problems because the pellet formed around the seed can affect their performance during the germination. The cultivation of tobacco is in itself one of the major agricultural activities in the South Region of Brazil, due to the system of production that allows the cultivation in small areas, with profit to small farmers, giving it relevant socioeconomic role, besides providing raw material for a major industrial complex. Its planting is done through seeds, whose small size hinders its handling, these seeds have difficulties in germination, showing dormancy varying levels in pelleted seeds, a fact that is not seen in raw seeds. This study aimed to verify the efficiency of the use of GA3 and KNO3 as a method of overcoming dormancy in tobacco pelleted seeds, as well as use of two methods for evaluation of tobacco pelleted seeds germination. In recent years, for most agricultural species, has increased the use of hybrids by to its high yield and other qualities that put them in front of varieties. In the genus Brachiaria hybridization has been accomplished through the use of crossing B. ruziziensis, that is sexual, and other species of the genus mainly apomictic B. brizantha and B. decumbens. However, hybrids of Brachiaria obtained until now are interspecific and have low seed production, factor limiting the spread of the same, because the convenience and lower cost of implementation / renewal of pastures using seeds instead of seedlings. In the search for the reason that low seed production, this work was to verify the existence of genotype-environment interaction in seed production of hybrid genotypes and seed production potential of these genotypes with reference to cv. Marand??. In a first study, we sought to verify the influence of temperature on the male gamete of five interspecific hybrids of Brachiaria (HBCG348, HBCG011, HBCG148, HBCG450 and HBCG148) and a second study evaluated the viability of pollen and seed production of these same genotypes in different environmental conditions. It was concluded that: a) the temperature factor affect the pollen viability of hybrids; b) the pollen viability of hybrids HBGC348 and HBGC148 is inversely proportional to the temperature rise; c) all the hybrids studied have floral abnormalities that affect the spread of pollen and subsequent seed production; d) were studied the hybrid genotype interaction with the environment; and e) none of the hybrids studied has the potential to produce seeds that credentials to sign in seed-bed market.; Nos ??ltimos anos...

Brazilian law imposes restrictions on the use of Permanent Preservation Areas (APP) for agriculture, is necessary to find economically viable alternatives and appropriate environmental legislation. Several family farms are at risk of becoming unviable, the constraints faced by virtue of its location next to rivers, areas of steep slopes or to their own water sources. In the Far-west region of Santa Catarina, various properties which are located at considerable APPs include spaces. Farmers face difficulties in getting the properties become economically viable to produce plots that are left over from the preservation of the PPAs. The objective of this study was to analyze the economic feasibility of growing fruit native APP or degraded areas. Determining the cost of production of the following native fruit species occurring in the region: Jabuticaba (Myrciaria cauliflora (Mart.) O. Berg), Pitanga (Eugenia uniflora L.), cherry (Eugenia involucrata DC.) Araticum and (Annona neosalicifolia H. Rainer). The forest restoration in the Atlantic Forest Biome is still a great challenge. The direct sowing of native species may be a viable alternative, especially for small farms. The aim of this project was to evaluate the germinative potential of two native species from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi and Citharexylum solanaceum Chamisso) under laboratory, vivarium and field conditions, through direct sowing. The analysis of germination in laboratory and vivarium were held at the Regional University of the Northwest State of Rio Grande do Sul, Municipality of Iju??/RS, Brazil, in the period of September-October of 2009. For the species C. solanaceum, was also held an additional treatment with mechanically scarified seeds. The objective of this study to get peach seedlings without soil cultivation system, from of rootstocks cloned through minicutting. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse with controlled temperature located in the Didactic Field and Experimental Plant Science Department, Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel-RS), in the period from March 2010 to November 2011. Were evaluated variables relating to the rooting percentage of minicutting; the survival of minicutting after transplanting cultivation systems; height (cm); the lateral shoot number; the diameter (mm) at the base, 10 and 15cm; the foliar contents of macronutrients and micronutrients of rootstocks; the index of establishment; the lateral shoot number and the height of the cultivation of grafted Cup. The obtained results demonstrated that in article 3 the rootstock 'Capdeboscq' presented surviving 80% percentage in soilless cultivation system. The system of cultivation without soil improves the self-rooted of peach seedlings development, article 2, in relation to production in packaging. The rootstocks of Okinawa and Flordaguard cultivars, articles 1 and 3, were on average 70% of the index of establishment when grafted 'Maciel' in system of cultivation without soil.
