A gap has been identified in the literature on the diagnosis and monitoring of the degree of strategic alignment. The main objective of this article is to diagnose and analyze the strategic alignment profile using the alignment diagnostic profile (ADP) tool, which enables organizations to show visually their degree of strategic alignment. The methodological approach adopted is multiple-case studies, which were conducted at five organizations in the medical diagnostics sector. The results indicate that the ADP enables organizations to understand the steps required to improve their level of alignment and to identify and locate gaps and conflicts.

O diagnóstico de modelos é uma etapa fundamental para avaliar a qualidade do ajuste dos modelos. Nesse sentido, uma das ferramentas de diagnóstico mais importantes é a análise de influência. Peña (2005) introduziu uma forma de analisar a influência em modelos de regressão, a qual avalia como cada ponto é influenciado pelos outros na amostra. Essa estratégia de diagnóstico foi adaptada por Hotta e Motta (2007) na análise de influência dos modelos de volatilidade estocástica univariados. Nesta dissertação, é realizado um estudo de diagnóstico de influência para modelos de volatilidade estocástica univariados assimétricos, assim como para modelos de volatilidade estocástica multivariados. Because of their versatility and easy of functionalisation, multifunctional AuNPs have also been proposed as optimal delivery systems for therapy (nanovectors). In the work, the problems of the beam structural modification through coupling the additional mass or elastic support, as well as the problem of diagnostics of the beam cracks, are discussed. The common feature for both problems is that the material parameters in each of the discussed cases change only in one point (additional mass, the support in one point, the crack described by the elastic joint). These systems, after determination of the value of additional element and its localization, should have a given natural vibration frequency. In order to solve the inverse problem, i.e. the problem of finding values of the additional quantities (mass, elasticity), the beam inverse model was proposed. Analysis of this model allows finding such a value of additional mass (elasticity) as a function of its localization so that the system has the free vibration frequency, which is desired in the modification problem or measured on the object in the diagnostics.

In this paper we propose a bivariate long-term model based on the Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern copula to model, where the marginals are assumed to be long-term promotion time structured. The proposed model allows for the presence of censored data and covariates. For inferential purpose a Bayesian approach via Markov Chain Monte Carlo is considered. Further, some discussions on the model selection criteria are given. In order to examine outlying and influential observations, we present a Bayesian case deletion influence diagnostics based on the Kullback-Leibler divergence. The newly developed procedures are illustrated on artificial and real data.

Diagnostic advances do not generally receive the recognition given to prevention and treatment contributions, for the control and management of infectious diseases including sexually transmitted infections (STIs). In order to identify seminal diagnostic contributions over a half century (1950–2000), the Editorial Board of the WHO Sexually Transmitted Diseases Diagnostics Initiative (SDI) Publication Review or “electronic journal club” were asked to nominate their choices of peer‐reviewed publications for special recognition. From 43 nominations, 13 were voted by a panel of 25 “experts” as having made the most significant contributions. The 1964 article by Thayer and Martin, which identified a selective media for gonococcal culture, was chosen unanimously by all panel members and is identified as the classic STI diagnostic article for this era.

This guide focuses on one of the more granular approaches to governance improvement, the governance and anti-corruption diagnostic. Governance and anti-corruption diagnostics are used as an initial strategy to identify the nature of governance problems, to target the key sources or institutions associated with these problems, and to establish a baseline and indicators which can be used to make reforms and to measure progress over time. Increasingly, these diagnostics are becoming sectoral in nature, meaning they are customized to assess governance and anti-corruption in a targeted sector. If conducted properly, the diagnostic process informs and catalyzes stakeholders to demand reform. If repeated periodically, these diagnostics can become useful tools to monitor governance and anti-corruption over time. Einleitung: Seit einiger Zeit werden in der Mammadiagnostik die gängigen Verfahren der Diagnosesicherung mittels Hochgeschwindigkeits-Stanzbiopsien durch großlumigere Vakuumbiopsie (VB)-Verfahren ergänzt. In Kombination mit hochauflösendem Ultraschall (US) können großlumige VB-Verfahren zur präziseren Diagnosesicherung und minimal invasiven Exstirpation benigner Mammaläsionen eingesetzt werden. Methode: In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Zentrum für Textil- und Verfahrenstechnik in Denkendorf (ITV) wurde ein Gel-Simulationsmodell entwickelt, mit dem die Entfernung benigner Mammaläsionen (z.B. Fibroadenom) mittels VB imitiert werden kann. Hergestellt wurden zweigelappte ovaläre Modelle aus flexiblem, mit dem HH-Mammotome® schneidbarem Kunststoffmaterial. Weitere Anforderungen an das Modell waren gute Schallreflexion bei geringer dorsaler Schallauslöschung im US. Folgendes Modell wurde ausgewählt: Elastosil RT 625 (Zweikomponenten-Silikonkautschuk). Das Modell wurde in Gussformen von 4 mm bis 20 mm Längsachse produziert. Die Silikonmodelle wurde anschließend in Putenfleisch implantiert und unter 2D- und 3D-US mit 11-G- und 8-G-Nadeln mittels VB exstirpiert. Die Antizipation ist ein höherer kognitiver Prozess, der oftmals notwendig ist, damit Torhüter unter Zeitdruck einen Torschuss erfolgreich abwehren können. Sie stellte den zentralen Untersuchungsgegenstand der Dissertation dar, deren Zielstellung drei große Säulen umfasste: 1) Aufarbeitung theoretischer Grundlagen der für die Antizipation im sportlichen Kontext relevanten Bereiche, 2) Darstellung und Diskussion des Forschungsstands hinsichtlich Talentforschung, methodischer Herangehensweisen zur Erfassung von Antizipation und empirischer, inhaltlicher Erkenntnisse sowie 3) Durchführung einer eigenen empirischen Studie zur Konzeption und Evaluation einer kognitiven Leistungsdiagnostik für Fußballtorhüter. Im Rahmen der empirischen Untersuchung standen inhaltliche Analysen des Antizipations- und Blickverhaltens (behaviorale und kognitive Ebene) sowie die Entwicklung und testtheoretische Überprüfung eines Diagnostikinstruments im Mittelpunkt. The accurate and efficient identification of microbial organism such as viruses and bacteria has mounting importance in the fields of health care, environmental monitoring, and defense. As an example, sepsis from bacterial infection is currently the 11th leading cause of death in the United States. However, current microbial detection strategies are cost-prohibitive, time-consuming and inevitably use unique sensors that are specific to each species to be detected. In this thesis we present a novel microbial sensing platform capable of both detecting the presence and estimating the concentration of microbial organisms in an infectious sample using a small number of random DNA probes. Our Universal Microbial Diagnostics (UMD) platform leverages the theory of sparse signal recovery (compressive sensing) to stably identify the composition of a sample containing several bacteria from a potentially large library of target bacteria. We experimentally validate UMD in vitro using a set of random sloppy molecular beacons to recover pathogenic bacteria without DNA amplification. Introdução: A cardiomiopatia hipertrófica (CH) é uma doença cardíaca estrutural primária, caracterizada por hipertrofia do ventrículo esquerdo, sem dilatação, geralmente assimétrica e predominantemente septal. Na população geral a prevalência estimada da CH é de 0,2% (1:500), correspondendo a 0,5% de todas as cardiopatias. Atualmente estão descritas mais de 1400 mutações associadas à CH em 20 genes relacionados com os miofilamentos do sarcômero, o disco-Z e o transporte de cálcio, sendo que os três mais associados são os genes MYH7, MYBPC3 e TNNT2, responsáveis por 50% do casos com diagnóstico molecular positivo no Brasil. Dessa forma, o advento de novas tecnologias de sequenciamento de DNA de alta performance promete revolucionar o diagnóstico molecular, tornando mais rápida e barata a identificação de alterações genéticas, impactando positivamente na custo-efetividade do manejo diagnóstico e terapêutico de pacientes e famílias com o diagnóstico de CH. This thesis reports on the investigation of a cost effective method of diagnosing gear faults using non-contact magnetic rotational position sensors. Like all new methods, the proposed sensor needed to be compared directly to an industry standard technique for measuring shaft rotations. The sensor was tested for its ability to record shaft rotational speed under a variety of experimental conditions. The sensor provided optimal measurements when directly compared to an industry standard technique of completing the same task. Using the fully calibrated sensor, experiments were conducted, which involved measuring the presence of faults in a 1:1 gearbox comprised of steel spur gears. Measuring the dynamic transmission error over the course of one full gear rotation allowed for identification of various gear fault types and severity levels. A large dynamic transmission error is the result of the output shaft lagging the input shaft, which ultimately represents the presence of a gear fault. The dynamic transmission error, over the course of one shaft rotation, was also investigated for the presence of a smooth engagement profile. A smooth engagement profile is the result of the sensor accurately detecting each individual tooth entering and exiting the gear mesh. In the light of emerging and overlooked infectious diseases and widespread drug resistance, diagnostics have become increasingly important in supporting surveillance, disease control and outbreak management programs. In many low-income countries the diagnostic service has been a neglected part of health care, often lacking quantity and quality or even non-existing at all. High-income countries have exploited few of their advanced technical abilities for the much-needed development of low-cost, rapid diagnostic tests to improve the accuracy of diagnosis and accelerate the start of appropriate treatment. As is now also recognized by World Healt Organization, investment in the development of affordable diagnostic tools is urgently needed to further our ability to control a variety of diseases that form a major threat to humanity. The Royal Tropical Institute's Department of Biomedical Research aims to contribute to the health of people living in the tropics. To this end, its multidisciplinary group of experts focuses on the diagnosis of diseases that are major health problems in low-income countries. In partnership we develop, improve and evaluate simple and cheap diagnostic tests, and perform epidemiological studies. Moreover, we advice and support others - especially those in developing countries - in their efforts to diagnose infectious diseases.

Outlier robust diagnostics (graphically) using Robustly Studentized Robust Residuals (RSRR) and Partial Robustly Studentized Robust Residuals (PRSRR) are established. One problem with some robust residual plots is that the residuals retain information from certain predicated values (Velilla, 1998). Birkmire, Robert W.; Hydrogenated amorphous Si (a-Si:H) and nano-crystalline silicon (nc-Si:H) thin films with unique properties have provoked wide research interest and technology applications for thin film silicon solar cells, and active layer in thin film transistors for liquid crystal display. The technologies investigated for both a-Si:H and nc-Si:H thin film preparation have included Sputtering , Hot Wire Chemical Vapor Deposition (HWCVD), Photochemical-CVD and Plasma Enhanced CVD (PECVD). Of these, PECVD is the most recognized and utilized technology for high quality, low temperature and large area thin film deposition. The effect of PECVD silicon thin film growth condition on the film properties, device performance and the plasma characterization need to be deeply understood. This dissertation analyzes the growth rate and material properties of thin film silicon at different plasma excitation frequencies and gas compositions by PECVD based on in-situ Plasma Diagnostics by Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) and Langmuir Probe. A relatively unique aspect of this research is evaluating the effect of adding a small amount of higher order silane gas to catalyze decomposition of the dominant silane species to enhance the growth rate. It has been found that the addition of 1.7% Si2 H6 flow into SiH4 /H2 mixture increased the a-Si:H growth rate by 60%. The optimization of a-Si:H deposition utilizing the SiH 4 / Si2 H6 /H2 mixture resulted in films grown at high rate and power with low microstructure factor which correlates with better stability of a-Si:H. The process window for transition from a-Si:H to nc-Si:H deposition was increased at higher H2 /SiH4 ratio and large grain size was achieved at either high pressure for RF 13.56 MHz or low pressure for Very High Frequency (VHF) 40.56MHz discharge. The present dissertation examined the relevance of psychological personality characteristics in talented soccer players in order to provide an empirical basis for the application of psychological diagnostics. For this purpose diagnostics of personality characteristics were implemented in the talent development program of the German Soccer Association. In accordance with previous research in sport science and psychology, a stepwise procedure was used to examine the prognostic value of personality characteristics. There is a view that many first-year students lack the basic knowledge and skills expected of them to study at university level. We examined the expected work habits and pre-course diagnostics for students who choose to take a course on differential calculus. We focused on the lecturer pre-course expectations of a student in the context of work habits, knowledge and technical skills. In particular, we formulated outcomes and then sample diagnostic questions to test whether the identified learning outcomes on expected work habits and learning are in place. If students are made aware of the expected learning outcomes and if they take the diagnostic test, they should be able to achieve greater success in their studies. The validity of this assumption will be the subject of a future paper which will report on the implementation of the learning outcomes and diagnostic questions that we formulated for pre-course diagnostics in differential calculus.
